Hello! My name is Emma and I am in high school in California. I play oboe in my school's Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Pit Orchestra. In the fall, I am drum major with marching band. This website is part of my Girl Scout Gold Award, aiming to increase enrollment in music programs. I believe a big part of this project is educating students about all the different paths music can take you, and how to choose the right instrument for you. Music means so much to me and I hope this website is helpful!
What is a Gold Award project? The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn, similar in prestige to an Eagle Scout project. It is comprised of an 80-hour service project, with the ultimate goal of leaving a lasting impact on your community. Girls are prompted to pick a topic that is important to them, and independently plan and execute a project related to it. You can't just donate money, or even just raise money; a gold award project must be an independent undertaking that must leave an impact. This specific project took 131 hours, over the span of 7 months. By it's end date, it included this website, a published book, 8 parent and student meetings, published newspaper article, 17 videos, and a high school club! Another part of my project is the collection of instruments for my school district. If you would like to donate, I have an amazon list at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/32O8Q8WML8JPQ?ref_=wl_share . Thank you! |
